Was not Abraham our father justified by works； when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar？
2：22可见信心是与他的行为并行，而且信心因着行为才得成全。
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works； and by works was faith made perfect？
2：23这就应验经上所说，亚伯拉罕信神，这就算为他的义。他又得称为神的朋友。
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith； Abraham believed God； and it was imputed unto him for righteousness： and he was called the Friend of God。
2：24这样看来，人称义是因着行为，不是单因着信。
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified； and not by faith only。
2：25妓女喇合接待使者，又放他们从别的路出去，不也是一样因行为称义吗。
Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works； when she had received the messengers； and had sent them out another way？
2：26身体没有灵魂是死的，信心没有行为也是死的。
For as the body without the spirit is dead； so faith without works is dead also。

3：1我的弟兄们，不要多人作师父，因为晓得我们要受更的判断。
My brethren； be not many masters； knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation。
3：2原来我们在许多事上都有过失。若有人在话语上没有过失，他就是完全人，也能勒住自己的全身。
For in many things we offend all。 If any man offend not in word； the same is a perfect man； and able also to bridle the whole body。
3：3我们若把嚼环放在马嘴里，叫他顺服，就能调动他的全身。
Behold； we put bits in the horses' mouths； that they may obey us； and we turn about their whole body。
3：4看哪，船只虽然甚大，又被大风催逼，只用小小的舵，就随着掌舵的意思转动。
Behold also the ships； which though they be so great； and are driven of fierce winds； yet are they turned about with a very small helm； whithersoever the governor listeth。
3：5这样，舌头在百体里也是最小的，却能说大话。看哪，最小的火能点着最大的树林。
Even so the tongue is a little member； and boasteth great things。 Behold； how great a matter a little fire kindleth！
3：6舌头就是火，在我们百体中，舌头是个罪恶的世界，能污秽全身，也能把生命的轮子点起来，并且是从地狱里点着的。
And the tongue is a fire； a world of iniquity： so is the tongue among our members； that it defileth the whole body； and setteth on fire the course of nature； and it is set on fire of hell。
3：7各类的走兽，飞禽，昆虫，水族，本来都可以制伏，也以经被人制伏了。
For every kind of beasts； and of birds； and of serpents； and of things in the sea； is tamed； and hath been tamed of mankind：
3：8惟独舌头没有人能制伏，是不止息的恶物，满了害死人的毒气。
But the tongue can no man tame； it is an unruly evil； full of deadly poison。
3：9我们用舌头颂赞那为主为父的，又用舌头咒诅那照着神形像被造的人。
Therewith bless we God； even the Father； and therewith curse we men； which are made after the similitude of God。
3：10颂赞和咒诅从一个口里出来，我的弟兄们，这是不应当的。
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing。 My brethren； these things ought not so to be。
3：11泉源从一个眼里能发出甜苦两样的水吗。
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter？
3：12我的弟兄们，无花果树能生橄榄吗，葡萄树能结无花果吗。咸水里也不能发出甜水来。
Can the fig tree； my brethren； bear olive berries？ either a vine； figs？ so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh。
3：13你们中间有智慧有见识的呢。他就当在智慧的温柔上，显出他的善行来。
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you？ let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom。
3：14你们心里若怀着苦毒的嫉妒和分争，就不可自夸，也不可说谎话抵挡真道。
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts； glory not； and lie not against the truth。
3：15这样的智慧，不是从上头来的，乃是属地的，属情欲的，属鬼魔的。
This wisdom descendeth not from above； but is earthly； sensual； devilish。
3：16在何处有嫉妒分争，就在何处有扰乱，和各样的坏事。
For where envying and strife is； there is confusion and every evil work。
3：17惟独从上头来的智慧，先是清洁，后是和平，温良柔顺，满有怜悯，多结善果，没有偏见，没有假冒。
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure； then peaceable； gentle； and easy to be intreated； full of mercy and good fruits； without partiality； and without hypocrisy。
3：18并且使人和平的，是用和平所栽种的义果。
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace。

4：1你们中间的争战斗殴，是从那里来的呢。不是从你们百体中战斗之私欲来的吗。
From whence e wars and fightings among you？ e they not hence； even of your lusts that war in your members？
4：2你们贪恋，还是得不着。你们杀害嫉妒，又斗殴争战，也不能得。你们得不着，是因为你们不求。
Ye lust； and have not： ye kill； and desire to have； and cannot obtain： ye fight and war； yet ye have not； because ye ask not。
4：3你们求也得不着，是因为你们妄求，要浪费在你们的宴乐中。
Ye ask； and receive not； because ye ask amiss； that ye may consume it upon your lusts。
4：4你们这些淫乱的人哪，（淫乱的人原文作淫妇）岂不知与世俗为友，就是与神为敌吗。所以凡想要与世俗为友的，就是与神为敌了。
Ye adulterers and adulteresses； know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God？ whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God。
4：5你们想经上所说的是徒然的吗。神所赐住在我们里面的灵，是恋爱至于嫉妒吗。
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain； The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy？
4：6但他赐更多的恩典。所以经上说，神阻挡骄傲的人，赐恩给谦卑的人。
But he giveth more grace。 Wherefore he saith； God resisteth the proud； but giveth grace unto the humble。
4：7故此你们要顺服神，务要抵挡魔鬼，魔鬼就必离开你们逃跑了。
Submit yourselves therefore to God。 Resist the devil； and he will flee from you。
4：8你们亲近神，神就必亲近你们。有罪的人哪，要洁净你们的手。心怀二意的人哪，要清洁你们的心。
Draw nigh to God； and he will draw nigh to you。 Cleanse your hands； ye sinners； and purify your hearts； ye double minded。
4：9你们要愁苦，悲哀，哭泣。将喜笑变作悲哀，欢乐变作愁闷。
Be afflicted； and mourn； and weep： let your laughter be turned to mourning； and your joy to heaviness。
4：10务要在主面前自卑，主就比叫你们升高。
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord； and he shall lift you up。
4：11弟兄们，你们不可彼此批评。人若批评弟兄，论断弟兄，就是批评律法，论断律法。你若论断律法，就不是遵行律法，乃是判断人的。
Speak not evil one of another； brethren。 He that speaketh evil of his brother； and judgeth his brother； speaketh evil of the law； and judgeth the law： but if thou judge the law； thou art not a doer of the law； but a judge。
4：12设立律法和判断人的，只有一位，就是那能救人也能灭人的。你是谁，竟敢论断别人呢。
There is one lawgiver； who is able to save and to destroy： who art thou that judgest another？
4：13？？，你们有话说，今天明天我们要往某城里去，在那里住一年，作买卖得利。
Go to now； ye that say； To day or to morrow we will go into such a city； and continue there a year； and buy and sell； and get gain：
4：14其实明天如何，你们还不知道。你们的生命是什么呢。你们原来是一片云雾，出现少时就不见了。
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow。 For what is your life？ It is even a vapour； that appeareth for a little time； and then vanisheth away。
4：15你们只当说，主若愿意，我们就可以活着，也可以作这事，或作那事。
For that ye ought to say； If the Lord will； we shall live； and do this； or that。
4：16现今你们竟以张狂跨口。凡这样跨口都是恶的。
But now ye rejoice in your boastings： all such rejoicing is evil。
4：17人若知道行善，却不去行，这就是他的罪了。
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good； and doeth it not； to him it is sin。

5：1？？，你们这些富足人哪，应当哭泣，号？？，因为将有苦难临到你们身上。
Go to now； ye rich men； weep and howl for your miseries that shall e upon you。
5：2你们的财物坏了，衣服也被虫子咬了。
Your riches are corrupted； and your garments are motheaten。
5：3你们的金银都长了锈。那锈要证明你们的不是，又要吃你们的肉，如同火烧。你们在这末世，只知积攒钱财。
Your gold and silver is cankered； and the rust of them shall be a witness against you； and shall eat your flesh as it were fire。 Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days。
5：4工人给你们收割庄稼，你们亏欠他们的工钱。这工钱有声音呼叫。并且那收割之人的冤声，已经入了万军之主的耳了。
Behold； the hire of
